In 1985, the Texas Downtown Association was founded to connect and serve communities dedicated to downtown development and revitalization. Founding members included representatives from Texas' largest downtowns and Anice Read, who served as the first state coordinator of the Texas Main Street Program.
Their goal was to create an independent, statewide, nonprofit organization that could serve as a clearinghouse of information for members. While TDA is dedicated to downtowns, our resources, strategies, and ideas benefit entire communities.
Big or small, rural or urban, TDA is for everyone. Join our network and get connected to downtown supporters across the state. We offer essential programs and services and empower our members to collaborate, think big, and connect.
