Downtown Program Manager
/ Main Street Coordinator

New Braunfels


The City of New Braunfels is accepting applications for the position of Downtown Program Manager / Main Street Coordinator for the Office of the City Manager. This position will be open until filled. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Business, Public Administration or a related field; AND five (5) years experience in marketing, public relations and/or economic development; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications:
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Required Knowledge of:
  • City organization, operations, policies and procedures.
  • Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations affecting community development and historic preservation.
  • Current principles and practices of marketing, promotion, advertising, public information, media relations and community relations programs.
  • Current accepted journalism practices.
  • Project planning and management principles and techniques.
Required Skill in:
  • Understanding and applying grant program standards and regulations.
  • Organizing and managing records.
  • Reading, interpreting and applying City standards, policies and procedures.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, demands and problem solving.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with employees, officials, other community development agencies and the general public.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
  • Effective communications skills, both verbal and written, including reports and presentations.
  • Preparing accurate reports and documentation as required within specified timelines.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated success in downtown revitalization efforts in a comparable municipality.
  • Specialized training and demonstrated success in economic development.
  • Formal training and demonstrated success in grant proposal writing.
Salary and Benefits
Starting minimum salary range is $21.24 - $26.00 per hour ($44,195 - $54,094 a year) based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include Texas Municipal Retirement System; paid vacation and sick leave; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. EOE
